Self described as ‘a community of worshippers pursuing the presence of God and sharing life together,’ Bethel Music has quickly become a creative powerhouse of worship. Each year sees more and more releases that explore worshiping in bold, new ways. And with an ever-changing team, trying to pin them down to one sound proves to be an elusive task.
But, above and below the music, the mission of Bethel Music is:
To carry the culture of Heaven to the nations through worship and to see the global expansion of God’s Kingdom through His manifest presence.
Theirs is an upwards-looking mission. With a deeply spiritual focus, it is common for worship nights at Bethel to feature long, spontaneous times of praise that don’t keep to any single schedule or plan, but rather daw out in the moment. And their music, in a way, helps feed into this. The blueprint of a Bethel Music song often features very short, repeated bridges and refrains the are spread through. Short refrains such as ‘You are good, good, good, oh’ (King of My Heart) and ‘It is well with my soul’ (It is Well) are repeated often, and with rising passion. And yet, whilst there is certainly a familiar heart to a Bethel Music song, the sheer number of releases have proved they are nowhere near done exploring what worship can be. With over 28 releases so far, Bethel Music’s releases include:
As well as all these (and some Christmas releases) the next big thing for Bethel Music is a follow-up to their hit kids album Come Alive. Called ‘Bright Ones,’ and due for release on the 27th April, this second childrens release is more than just an album, but is also part of a musical feature film. Bright Ones is an encouragement to live out loud, in confidence in God and themselves as God’s creation.
