Unbroken Praise CD Review

When the author of classics such as “Lord Let Your Glory Fall”, “The Father’s Song” and “You Never Let Go” releases a new album, the Christian world rightly sits up. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in front of a select group of Matt’s friends and colleagues from the Christian music industry,

Unbroken Praise is a good quality live record. It’s the live setting where the worship leader really excels (see Facedown, 10,000 Reasons and Blessed Be Your Name albums). But Unbroken Praise is not Redman’s strongest release to date. The band is strong, and there’s genuine passion and joy. But on Unbroken Praise, the songs just don’t hit home as hard as previous records. The best tracks are reworking of hymn “It Is Well With My Soul”, the strong and driving “The Awesome God You Are” and the anthemic and bold “No Longer I”. Matt Redman is a phenomenal talent and gift to the church. Every album he releases is well worth the purchase. But don’t expect to hear another hit as huge as “10,000 Reasons” on this album
