So where did 2014 gothen? It doesn’t seem five minutes since I last made a resolution (not to make resolutions as it happens!) and yet here we are again at the start of another new year.
What will you do better/differently/not at all, compared to 2014 then? Read your Bible more; read more books; watch less TV? Yes, probably I should do all of that but I’m not sure I want to make a resolution to do so – which I’ll probably break in a few weeks!
That said I do like New Year. As I write this it’s dark by 4.00pm, the cold and damp weather is quenching enthusiasm, there’s too much to do and not enough time (well it’s coming up to Christmas just now). I can feel myself becoming grumpier (yes, really). But January 1st signals a new start. The nights will soon be getting lighter, the weather will improve and the sun will come out again and we can all look forward to Easter – even though you haven’t had the
It’s also a time to take stock as we look back. How was 2014 for you? All-in-all it was a good year for me, despite being quite poorly at one stage, and for Together magazine too. As we enter 2015 this issue is our biggest ever at 56 pages and is packed with really good content. Over the last few months we’ve gathered some excellent writers and
in this issue we have contributions from Penelope Wilcock, Mark Greene, Tony Collins Joe Story and Sue Rinaldi, as well as our regular columnists. Sheridan Voysey is also providing our Reflections column for this year too.
As I look ahead to what we have planned for future issues I am excited by what’s coming – and I hope you will be too. But remember, above all, this is your magazine; we want to hear from you. Retailers, tell us your stories; see the Retailer News for examples of stories provided by readers – we need more of these so send your news to me. You could make that your resolution (oh and also sign up to attend the CRT Retailers and Suppliers Retreat and renew your subscription to Together magazine.)
In 2015 my hopes are that we see an improvement in the economic climate and that retailing as a whole (but particularly Christian retailing) will see an improvement. There appears to be a bit of a backlash against the big supermarkets, book sales are down particularly there, so maybe we’ll see a return to the High Street. Now that’s one resolution we could hope everyone would make.
Happy New Year.
