The Bright Expression is a new band from Southampton who describe their music as an ‘ethereal mix of atmospheric soundscapes with modern overtones and influences’.
Their own particular brand of worship music suggests they’ve been heavily infl uenced by the likes of Bethel and Jesus Culture (“You Are Alive” could have been written and sung by Kim Walker Smith). They’ve also enlisted the help of American producer Gabriel Wilson who has also worked with…Bethel! The result is an American-sounding record.
Even the well-designed album cover and website give this impression. The Bright Expression haven’t just produced an interesting collection of well-produced new songs, they’ve also marketed themselves very well. There’s a refreshing and healthy professionalism on display from this 6 piece. As for the music, it’s impressive. Very impressive. This band is certainly one to watch.
