Giving Tuesday 2019 - Home for Good

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving, where anyone, anywhere can support the good causes that mean the most to them.

This Giving Tuesday we want to thank you so much for shopping with Eden and for your servant-hearted generosity.

Today we're sharing a letter of thanks from Home for Good founder, Krish Kandiah:

Dear Eden customer,

Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Over the last five years, you have given almost £300,000 to help find a home for every child who needs one. You are simply incredible.

I founded Home for Good in 2014 because there was a crisis in the care system, with thousands of children waiting for an adoptive family and thousands more foster carers needed for vulnerable children. As an adoptive dad and foster carer myself, I believed – and still do - that the Church has a pivotal role to play in responding to this crisis. If just one new family in every church across the UK stepped forward to welcome in a vulnerable child, then the crisis in the care system would be over.

We had a huge vision – to find a home for every child who needs one – but we were just a tiny, start-up charity with little resource.

That’s where you stepped in. Gareth the founder of Eden and his team made it possible for you to round up your order to the nearest £1, with the extra going to Home for Good.

But some of you went further than that and rounded your shopping up to the nearest £5. Or £10. I even heard of one customer who rounded up her book order of £57.54 to £200!

And it all adds up. Over the last five years, you have donated almost £300,000 that is making a huge difference for vulnerable children and for the families who care for them. Thank you.

You’ve inspired families like Sarah and Jeremy’s, who cut their bedroom in half so that they had a spare room to begin fostering. You’ve changed the lives of children like Harry, who arrived with his foster carers on Christmas Eve and was adopted by a couple who you have supported.

So, thank you, because when you shop at Eden you are not just buying stories, you are writing them too.
