Life Without Limbs: Nick Vujicic

Imagine getting through your busy day without hands or legs. Picture your life without the ability to walk, care for your basic needs, or even embrace those you love.

You could probably be forgiven for being a bit angry at the world, resigned to feeling like you can’t achieve anything. But that’s not the case for Nick Vujicic (pronounced VOO-yee-cheech).

In 1982, Nick was born without arms and legs. There was no warning or medical explanation. Three sonograms had failed to reveal complications. And yet, the Vujicic family was destined to cope with both the challenge and blessing of raising a son who refused to allow his physical condition to limit his lifestyle.

Naturally, growing up was hard. The everyday angst of moving from childhood to adulthood coupled with feeling different and strong bouts of depression and loneliness led Nick to question his life and purpose.

But, he credits his victory over his struggles to his faith in God. As well as the family and friends he has encountered along the way.

Since the age of 19, Nick has travelled across the globe sharing his story with millions. He inspires college campuses and stadiums full of people with his motivational message: “If God can use a man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet, then He will certainly use any willing heart!”.

In his latest inspirational book, Be the Hands and Feet, Nick shares the heart of his message, the motivation behind all he does, and something that he believes the world needs now more than ever before: A faith in Jesus Christ that moves people to act and make the world a better place.
