It may have felt like a long Spring but it’s been a long Winter in Faith Mission Glasgow! Mary Macleod explains why.
“We always like to do something special around the SU Holiday Club material; our creative staff team love the new challenge of displaying it every year! This year’s theme of Polar Explorer was a tricky one! Snow and penguins were fairly straightforward ideas until someone suggested an igloo! We found some images online of igloos built with plastic milk cartons … problem solved!!
“A major collecting effort began and very soon we had the blocks - er milk cartons - to complete our very own igloo! Our knitters then rounded up some huskies and penguins and we had our polar scene in place.”
Mary says it has created a tremendous amount of interest and been a real focal talking point for folk intending to run the programme. Many photos have been taken! However some concern has been expressed: “I was seriously brought back to reality one Saturday when a little boy came up to me in all seriousness and said ‘Igloos are made out of snow. Why did you use milk bottles instead of snow?’”
