Bestselling band have reached 2 million sales for debut album
The Christian mega-band from Atlanta, Georgia has reached the Multi-Platinum Award bench mark. ‘Casting Crowns’ – the band’s debut album released back in 2005 – has been awarded Multi-Platinum status. This means that sales for the album have exceeded 2 million copies in America alone, as monitored by RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
In reaching this prestigious bench-mark, ‘Casting Crowns’ has become the 8th Christian album to join the club, including ‘Satellite (P.O.D), ‘The Beautiful Letdown’ (Switchfoot) and ‘Almost There’ (MercyMe). The bands record label have recognised this achievement:
“I’m honoured to work alongside Mark Hall and Casting Crowns, and congratulate them on such an incredible milestone. Their record was a game changer for Provident and CCM music and continues to minister to listeners,” – Terry Hemmings, Provident Music Group President & CEO.
This news only adds to the bands impressive stack of awards, including Grammy Awards, Dove Awards and Billboard Music Awards. Perhaps they’re most remarkable achievement to date didn’t come as an award that represents profit, but as a partnership that represents giving.
The sell-out ‘Come to the Well’ tour attracted over 370,000 people and encouraged a total of 65,500 child sponsorships with their partners, World Vision (the Christian humanitarian organisation).
Congratulations Casting Crowns on your Multi-Platinum triumph, and your continued dedication to free children from poverty.
