It’s proven that one of the biggest strains that can be put on a mind is isolation. It has been shown to literally alter your brain.  Looking after your own mental and emotional health is vital right now. Literally lifesaving.

To help you find consolation, hope, distraction, focus and support throughout COVID-19 lockdown, we’ve put together some ways and resources to help you maintain your mental well being.

They explore in practical, spiritual and insightful ways how to look after your own mental wellbeing.

Christian Resources for Mental Health

Recently there has been a flourish of books that approach mental and emotional health from a Christian perspective. Drawing on the latest understanding of how our minds work alongside insightful understandings of the Bible, these new books offer support and comfort for anyone in distress.

We’ve picked out some of the best Christian books about mental health.

Journaling and Writing through Self Isolation

One productive way to spend time and invest in your own mental well being is to take up writing and journaling. This can simply be with a notebook and pencil, or with one of the many journaling Bibles that mix writing space with the scriptures.

There is no right way to cope with self-isolation, but writing way may just work.

Here we’ve gathered a range of ways you can take up writing as a way of emotional support and output.

Support the Mental Health of People You Know

You don’t need to be suffering from mental difficulties to find value in these resources. They can be an aid to empathy. A way to show someone you are thinking of them.

One big trap of poor mental health is feeling incredibly alone. Like no one understands. By showing someone you there for them, whether that is through a message or a small token or gift in the mail, you are able to help someone through the strains of self-isolation.

These resources help you help others. They show the particular strains and troubles people face, and how you can meet them head-on.

Finding the time for peace

When it all gets overwhelming, it’s time to pause.

From turning off your phone to finding your own dedicated space, we’ve put together ways that you can carve out time for resting in God’s presence in a soothing way.
