APOSTLE PETER, HIS LIFE AND LESSONS
Open the Gospels almost anywhere and you will find Peter. He is in the boat when Jesus first calls the disciples. He is on the water the night Jesus walks toward them. He is on the mountain when Moses and Elijah appear out of the bright cloud. He is in the garden when the soldiers arrive. He is in the courtyard when everything falls apart. He is running to the tomb before anyone else has quite gathered themselves. He is standing before the crowds on Pentecost morning, preaching a sermon that would crack history open and let light through.
Peter was everywhere. Not because he was the greatest of the twelve, but because he was the most restless, the most responsive, the most likely to leap. Where others paused to consider, Peter had already moved. Sometimes that movement carried him into glory. Sometimes it carried him straight into cold water.
