She Thought She Was Dying. Instead, She Was Being Born.

In 1373, a thirty-year-old woman lay on what she believed was her deathbed. The priest had come. The candle burned near her feet. Her name was Julian of Norwich.

But instead of dying, she was given visions of Christ's suffering so intimate and so consuming that they transformed her. In the midst of that undoing, she heard words that have echoed through centuries of human sorrow:

"All shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of thing shall be well."

She would go on to write the first known book in English authored by a woman - not despite her suffering, but through it. Her story reminds us that sometimes what feels like an ending is the beginning of something far deeper.
