A major ecumenical event focussing on the importance of marriage, is set to be ‘live streamed’ over the internet, after tickets sold out.
‘Talk Marriage’ will be broadcast live tonight from central London, after the 1000 event tickets were snapped up by Christians eager to hear how churches and couples can help make families and marriages stronger.
Jointly sponsored by the Evangelical Alliance and Church Communities International, the event features speakers from across the Christian spectrum. They will bring key messages about the vital importance of marriage in society, what churches can do to prepare people for marriage and support marriages, and how to prevent marriage breakdown.
Les Isaac, founder of the Street Pastors initiative will be addressing the issue of fatherless young people, and what can be done to help them. Having witnessed first-hand the issues raised by absent fathers, he is adamant that the church needs to be actively involving itself in dealing with the problems this causes.
Academic Harry Benson, who runs the Bristol Community Family Trust will be on hand to provide some eye opening facts and figures concerning marriage and family breakdown.
Also contributing are Ann Clifford, a church leader and Edmund Adamus, Marriage and Family Life Coordinator for the Catholic Diocese Of Westminster.
Two of the key contributors to the conference are John and Regula Fransham, from Christian Communities International, also known as the Bruderhof.
Living in large communities, some of which are based in the UK, the Bruderhof are well known for bringing a message of the importance of forgiveness, and the necessity of ‘loving God and neighbour’.
The Franshams have counselled many young people before marriage, and many married couples, and will be explaining the crucial importance of purity and forgiveness, in preventing marriage breakdown.
Around 1000 people are expected to attend the ticket only event, but many more are expected to view the presentations over the internet when the event is broadcast live on the Talk Marriage site, from 6.30pm.
