The hugely popular Jonathan Veira brings out his tremendous autobiography Finding My Voice, taking us inside his world.
Jonathan Veira has long been a audience favourite, whether performing opera, appearing on Songs of Praise, or introducing his own compositions. Veira’s infectious smile, light-hearted comedy and healthy proportions - the only disposition appropriate for such a funny man - have become iconic.
In writing his first book ‘Finding My Voice’ this fabulous entertainer (somewhat sickeningly) lengthens the list of skills that can be attributed to him. Adrian Plass articulates this rather well, whingeing "Isn't it enough that the rat sings like an angel? how come he's able to write such a brilliantly readable book as well? It shouldn't be allowed." So the virtuoso singer, pianist, guitarist and entertainer turns writer, and lets us into his world.
Released earlier this month (March 2012), ‘Finding My Voice - Playing the Fool and other Triumphs’ is a delightful read. Veira’s larger than life character really comes through as he recounts hilarious tales from his personal life and his professional career.
Called ‘fascinating’ ‘down to earth’ ‘warm’ and ‘winsome’ by Jeff Lucas, ‘Finding My Voice’ shines a light on the man who has made a generation of audiences smile. Careful to be honest, Veira also shares his insights on life that have come through his vast array of experiences. Without being didactic, he unintentionally offers the reader a great opportunity to learn from his story.
This man’s career has far from peaked - at 52 his popularity continues to rocket. ‘Finding My Voice’ is perhaps one of the most exciting Christian autobiography releases of 2012. The phenomenal versatility of Veira appeals to such a wide audience, as the Bishop of Bradford, Nick Baines purports ‘it is a superb read - I can’t think of anyone who wouldn't enjoy it.’
