Christian Wellbeing Resources: Books and Creative Tools to Help You Slow Down and Thrive

Life can feel relentlessly busy. Between work pressures, family commitments and the constant interruption of our screens, many of us are quietly running on empty — and yet we rarely pause long enough to admit it. The good news? As Christians, we're not left without support. There's a growing wealth of Christian wellbeing resources designed to help us slow down, reconnect with God and care for ourselves holistically. As Eden’s Category Manager for Christian Books I’ve selected a few titles and ranges that you might find helpful as you begin a slower pace (or at least start making small changes to get you to that place!)

Books to Help You Slow Down

If busyness is your biggest battle, you're not alone — and you're certainly not without hope. A Year to Slow Down by Rachel Bearn is a beautiful, faith-rooted guide to embracing a more peaceful, seasonal rhythm of life. Rachel shares her own experience of how reducing her pace helped her heal from chronic illness and deepen her relationship with God — following the Christian calendar through all four seasons in a way that feels grounding and genuinely life-giving. It's particularly resonant for women who feel pulled in too many directions at once.

For those seeking practical tools to move from survival to flourishing, Small Steps for Big Change by Patrick Regan OBE is an encouraging and accessible read, recently hitting the Sunday Times Bestseller list. Drawing on his own experience of burnout, Patrick unpacks three simple but powerful principles — Start Small, Create Space, Think Differently — offering a compassionate roadmap towards a more sustainable way of living. It's also been chosen as the first book for The Big Community Read, making it a brilliant option for small groups. Patrick’s work and ministry within this space has led him to write several books so be sure to check them out here.

And if you're looking for something that challenges the very culture of hurry itself, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer makes a compelling, theologically-rich case for why slowing down isn't laziness — it's faithfulness. Comer writes with a pastoral heart for his readers and offers practical steps to make change in busy lives.

Books to Help You Slow Down

Christian Health and Wellbeing Books

These titles sit within a much broader collection. Eden's Christian health and wellbeing range covers everything from emotional health and mental resilience to tackling Depression and Anxiety which you’re in the thick of it — written by trusted Christian voices and rooted in Scripture. Whatever you're navigating, there's likely a book in this range that speaks right to your situation.

Mindful Creativity: Christian Colouring Books for Adults

Sometimes the most restorative thing is to simply sit, breathe and create. Christian adult colouring books — featuring intricate designs inspired by Scripture and faith-filled themes — offer a wonderfully gentle way to practise mindfulness whilst meditating on God's Word. Popular titles like Be Still, Exploring Proverbs by Jacqui Grace and 365 Promises from God’s Word in Color are perfect for quiet moments of reflection. They also make thoughtful, affordable gifts for anyone in your life who could use a little more stillness.

Pick Up a Pen and Get Journaling

Another easy way to help you slow down and reflect is through journaling, whether you’re pondering what you read in your quiet time or want to make sure you write down a prayer request so you don’t forget it! Why not choose a Christian journal to get started (and yes we have a huge range to choose from) or a keepsake Journaling Bible, available in most popular translations. I’m a particular fan of the Hosanna Revival Bibles and Notebooks, beautiful options to motivate your new favourite habit.

Whatever your starting point, caring for your wellbeing as a Christian isn't a luxury — it's a biblical and a reflection of good stewardship of the life God has given you. Small steps towards rest are always worth taking.
