In 2006 an Australian census revealed that on average 1 in 4 people acknowledged themselves to be Catholic, but only 14% of these actually attend church regularly.

The statistics are undeniable. Many Catholics, whilst still calling themselves Catholics, have a crisis of faith. Research by the Catholic Church suggests that many Catholics are feeling confused, bored, unhappy, dissatisfied, frustrated, and guilty.
