Eugene H. Peterson (1932–2018) was a pastor, scholar, author, and poet whose life's work was shaped by an unquenchable hunger to make Scripture breathe in the language of everyday life. He is the author of over 30 books including award-winning The Message, paraphrase Bible translation.
Completed in 2002, he wanted to translate the Bible from the original Greek and Hebrew into a contemporary language we use today. He set out to capture the original meaning of scripture, as the original audience would have understood it, and translate it just for you.
