This is the first published collection of poems by El Gruer, a performance poet whose work has earned her the title 'The People's Poet'. El's writing is rooted in the belief that poetry is for everyone and she aims to make poetry something to be experienced rather than just read. She is inspired by the kinds of events that happen in everyday life to ordinary people, by humour and by human vulnerability and brokenness, and by her own faith. Her performances have taken her everywhere from large festival audiences to intimate gatherings in pubs, hospitals and community centres, and on tour.
