To truly understand the mission of Jesus, one must understand his relationship with the Law of Moses. In this scholarly and accessible work, Paul T. Sloan explores how the Gospels depict Jesus as the one who brings about the long-awaited restoration of Israel. Far from seeing the Law as an obstacle, this book argues that the New Testament writers viewed Jesus as the fulfilment of the covenant, bringing the true intent of the Torah to its ultimate conclusion. By situating Jesus within the complex landscape of first-century Judaism, Sloan provides a fresh perspective on how he interacted with the religious authorities and the broader hopes of the Jewish people. This book is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to bridge the gap between the Old and New Testaments, offering clear insights into why Jesus’ adherence to and interpretation of the Law were central to his work of salvation. Through this study, you will gain a deeper appreciation for the rich historical and theological context of the Gospels and the redemptive story that continues to shape our faith today.
