Counseling in Christianity is differed with secular counseling by one specific thing: Christian counseling has one presupposition, proponent and conclusion. That you are not the key aid to the counselee, neither do you give solution by your feelings and the only way is to seek scriptural advice aimed at the lead of the Holy Spirit. And should co-jointly do it with the Holy Spirit to get a concerted outcome of the counsel of God you as a facilitator.

Christian counseling also is differed from Christian Correction though still in Christian correction you can only correct someone you have taught. Here the key difference is in secular counseling there are varied and many ways and forms of general counseling. Meaning there is no one sure way, but varied many forms of approach and proponents; that almost makes it trial and error. So Christian Counseling may also be in simplistic terms be defined as meeting someone in their point of need, pointing out what is wrong with them/ their conduct/ situation according to the word, helping them to obtain the desirable outcome in Christ and behavioral alignment with the outcome of their post counseling situation and doing it all through scripture.

So, Christian Counseling is not just based upon but founded in the scripture. That is why it should be done all in all in the character or the persona of God which is Love.
