Thomas Aquinas is one of the greatest figures in western thought, whose ideas continue to exert a powerful influence, not only on theologians but on contemporary writers and thinkers of very different backgrounds and traditions. After a lengthy period of a decline in interest in the work of Aquinas, recent years have seen a new Thomistic renaissance, and a growing appreciation for the way he brings together philosophy and theology, theology and spirituality, and revelation and ethics.
