This is an excellent read whether you are a novice preacher or have been giving sermons for years. Brown covers all the material you would expect, history, ideas from other thinkers, examples as well as personal experience, but the sum is more than the parts. She writes with enthusiasm for the subject and with grounded common sense. At its heart this book calls for a return to the art of rhetoric which gives a thread to follow through the sections. All in all this is a practical and reflective guide to the task of preparing and delivering sermons.
