The main aim of this book is to analyze the formation of the mechanisms and forms of influence of the Catholic Church on political power in Gabon. Relations between the Church and state institutions in Gabon can sometimes be tense, but cooperation remains clear and direct. The means and forms of influence were direct and indirect, depending on the leader in power. Inspired by his thesis on Political Influence of Christian Churches in Gabon: A Social and Philosophical Analysis, the finding is that the influence of social doctrine is significant in Gabon, and that the Catholic Church continues to function and play its role as the guardian of moral and social values in society. In Gabon, there is a tendency towards a relative balance between the two institutions.
