"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." (Matthew 4:19)

Jesus' call is simple and profound: relationship, transformation, and mission. When it is lived out faithfully, it produces healthy, healing communities - where people grow upward, families strengthen, and the Church becomes refuge and light.

But Jesus is not the only one who calls people to follow. Satan offers a counterfeit path - a Ferris Wheel marked by manipulation, control, and spiritual confusion. Sharing becomes targeting. Sincerity becomes flattery. Community is exchanged for isolation. Discipling is twisted into devaluation. Trust is followed by discard. Honor is replaced by smear. In this cycle, one can feel as if they are making progress, but they are just going in circles.

Indeed, Jesus told us to expect danger - and to walk with discernment. He ordered us to "be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves" (Matthew 10:16), and the purpose of this book is to obey that Scripture. This book exposes the Ferris Wheel and contrasts it with God's Word. It names the tactics of emotional and spiritual abuse, traces their progression from charm to control to ruin, and calls the faithful back to covenant life: the Way of Jesus. A way of truth, humility, accountability, and love - where covenant frees, unites, and builds up.
