AS the history of Christianity moved from the earliest of believers to a major world force, it is but natural that changes, nuances, and differences within identity, structure, and outlook began to emerge. Looking at the middle aspects of Christian history is an unveiling and fascinating reveal of denominational drama - and ultimately, how we wound up at the point of the Protestant Reformation. Originally written to teach early church history at the college level, in Middle Church History: 700 A.D. to 1500 A.D., Dr. Lee Ann B. Marino, Ph.D., D.Min., D.D. traces the details, changes, rises, and falls of key points in Christian history through the middle points of church history. Using key documents and writing key summaries of church issues and information present in middle church history, Dr. Marino takes the student through nearly eight hundred years' worth of historical events - from the Middle Ages, through missionaries, the Holy Roman Empire, the Great Schism, rise of religious orders, mystics, and yes, those who challenged the mainline churches as a lead-in and foundation for the Protestant Reformation. This complete volume includes the necessary readings for each week, outlines of history in each chapter, explaining and expounding upon the current themes and issues of the topic at hand, a historical timeline, homework assignments and final exam, for a complete middle church history course.
