TRIGGER ALERT: What you are about to read may trigger anger, anxiety, and disgust. You have been warned. Reader discretion is advised. As goes the church, so goes the world. Why is society messed up? Why is the world so crazy? Why does civilization so often seem on the brink of self-annihilation? Pastor, professor, and author, Bill Giovannetti, points the finger of blame directly at the church. Giovannetti dredges up a dozen disturbing trends in the evangelical Church today. In each case, he shows how these trends are weakening the church, and throwing society into chaos.Giovannetti leaves no stone unturned, rooting through the dark underbelly of contemporary preaching, worship music, publishing, evangelism, and discipleship. Leadership, personal holiness, social justice, legalism, and an emerging post-millennialism are all held up to the scrutiny of the Word of God. In each case, he argues, we are reaping the fruit of decades of apathy and neglect in the body of Christ.Giovannetti not only diagnoses what ails the church, he also offers prescriptions to reverse these trends. He writes with a great love for the church and hope for the future. It's time for the church to wake up, return to an authoritative Scripture, and stand immovably on the truth of Christ. You will be challenged, and you may be triggered, but you will not be bored. A must-read for anyone who cares about the future of the church and its impact on the world.Perfect for individuals, classes, and groups.
