Walking in the Will of God

I have never read a book on the subject of divining God’s will that did not contradict itself at some point, and this one is no exception. Thus we are told that our God-given aptitudes and interests signpost His will for us, and then that we must be prepared to abandon our own selfish agendas for His, but not how to tell the difference. The author also has some views regarding humanitarian disasters which some may take issue with, and an enviable conviction that the New Covenant ‘nudges’ of the Holy Spirit are a far surer guide than the detailed instructions issued by Moses’ burning bush or Joshua’s Angel of the Lord. However, the overall messages of the book – that we should not worry about getting it wrong because our loving Father will not let us go far down the wrong road, and that we should not let the fear of doing the wrong thing stop us doing anything at all – are well worth remembering. For those who feel life is a test they’re being set up to fail, the message that God is on our side and wants to guide us can only be a welcome one.
