If you're looking for an 'entry level' book on humanity, Mark Meynell's What Makes Us Human is a perfect place to start. It's brief, clearly written, and offers solid answers to modern questions about human identity and what it means to bear God's image. If you're struggling with body image, Emma Scrivener's A New Name is a biography which gives much food for thought for sufferers, helpers, and the curious. Finally, Carl Trueman's Crisis of Confidence is a slightly more demanding read which focuses on several historic creeds to show how we don't need to redefine our beliefs under the pressure of modern culture. He shows that we can remain confident on the Church's teaching on matters of sexuality, identity, and the body and still proclaim them fearlessly.
