As the daughter of a Mexican father and a Cherokee mother in San Francisco in the mid-1860s, Goldenstar (Star) Mendoza has never had anything handed to her.

When a wealthy rancher, Franklin Bower, comes along and offers her everything her life had been missing, Star is suspicious, to say the least.

With Bower's Condor Ranch as her new home, Star must find a way to determine who is a friend and who is an enemy. She quickly learns that the devil can come disguised as your wildest dreams.
