The book relates the story told by Jesus of the man who received one talent. The man's attitude was one of excuses, slothfulness, and neglect. We each have a duty to perform in the Kingdom of God, which no one else can do for us.The man with the one talent was unwilling to assume his duty if it meant that he had to change from a life of comfort to work and fulfill his obligations. Ultimately, he lost everything and received misery, pain, and ended up in outer darkness.Similarly, if as believers we do not obey God's word to work for Him, there will be a day when each one will give account of his or her stewardship to the Lord.
