    A Jewish Book of Comfort

    Product Description

Whether you are a person of faith or not, there are always times in every human life when we need to find comfort, to sustain us through times of anxiety, disappointment or pain, times of loss or bereavement. Throughout the millennia of Jewish history, from the Hebrew Bible to modern times, Jewish sages have written and spoken words of encouragement, reassurance and hope. This anthology presents a wide selection of poems, psalms and meditations from all periods of the Jewish past and the present day that will provide food for thought, and words of comfort at difficult times of life. Themes included are illness, ageing, patience, loss, memory, grief, faith, immortality and much more. It is often said that we have lost the ability to lament. Funerals have become 'celebrations of life' and there is no proper time for grief. The wisdom in this book is deep and real, and is borne of centuries of suffering endured, faced, understood and overcome

    A Jewish Book Of Comfort

This is a most beautiful and bittersweet book that deals with the hardest of subjects, death, bereavement and grieving in the most incredible of ways collecting together as it does a collection of thoughts, prayers, readings etc that at times seem almost prosaic in the extreme and at other times are the most moving homages to hope, and this is what does most clearly make it a Jewish book of comfort - the artful blending of the prosaic with the illusive. There is in here a word, thought, poem or prayer that would work of anyone going through the trials of dealing with death, loss, illness or caring for someone through these trials. A beautiful and melancholy book that speaks very much to the heart of those needing comfort.
