In the falling world of Verthana, the Trioptic Giants of the Highlands have fallen from the Conductor and their folly is spreading to the elfin Musselkin below in the Sylvan Lowlands. The prodigious Silver Snails are disappearing and Sylvanwood is bitterly divided.

And yet, providentially, at the discovery of mysterious rings, seven youth of Earth transport themselves to Verthana only to find themselves amidst the fallen giants, a talking Silver Snail, and the falling Musselkin.

After entering Verthana, the youth are torn apart and caught up in strange encounters, alien customs, and celestial events. Their simple aim is to survive deathly peril, reunite, and return to their home on Earth.
