The biggest trial of his life won’t be in a courtroom.

Attorney Levi Stur believes his day can’t get any worse when exposing a client’s perjury puts his career in jeopardy. But that night, wand-wielding strangers invade his home and kidnap his twin daughters.

Levi kills one intruder with a desperate blow, but the other escapes with the girls through a glowing portal that vanishes before he can follow. When police arrive to find a dead body, two missing children, and no explanation beyond Levi’s wild tale, they arrest him for murder.

Alone in a jail cell, Levi begins to question his own sanity—until another portal appears in the wall. Magic is real, and his daughters possess a rare power that has made them targets of the rogue wizard Alric. The wizards’ senate offers to help, but their motives are far from altruistic.

To save his daughters, Levi must master magic he barely understands, navigate the senate’s ruthless politics, evade the police, and confront the world's most dangerous wizard.

What Levi doesn't know is that his daughters’ kidnapping is only the opening move in a conspiracy that threatens not just his family, but the entire “ordinary” world.
