Driven into exile, Mary Magdalene, Martha, Lazarus, and Joseph of Arimathea journey through storm and shipwreck to the pagan shores of Gaul and beyond. They carry with them the memory of the one who called them friend-and the holy defiance of those who have seen death die.
Mary retreats to a cave, burning with visions. Martha battles beasts and darkness in the name of the living God. Lazarus becomes bishop, still laughing at the grave. Joseph bears the sacred cup westward, to a land of mist and myth.
