Little Lucy is shy and so she hides away from people and animals.

Ann Goddard, the author, has a degree in zoology and has taught science and biology at high school.

She has also worked at an outdoor Environmental Centre. The story shares her passion for nature, her belief in a loving caring God of creation, and helping children to become confident in themselves so that they can fulfil their potential.

This book was written to inspire self-confidence in children and especially to encourage girls to be adventurous; to affirm God's love for us and to inspire an awareness of wildlife. The story can be read straight through as secular fiction, but three illustrated plates with quotes from the Bible throw God's perspective on the story.
