Product Description

Vice Cop to Vicar chronicles the extraordinary journey of one man through the darkest corridors of crime, trauma, and personal anguish to a profound transformation guided by faith, resilience, and compassion.

From the high-stakes world of law enforcement where justice was the pursuit, Detective Constable Derrick Wilks found himself entrenched in the gruesome reality of crimes that shook the very foundation of his being. A relentless exposure to disturbing images and harrowing cases left scars unseen on the surface but deeply etched within. The book unravels gripping accounts of investigations that tested the boundaries of human depravity, including the heart-wrenching discovery of a baby in a shoebox—a tragic tale of neglect and hidden agony that would haunt him for years.

The unyielding pressures of the job, devoid of any support or counseling, took a toll on Derricks mental health, pushing him to the brink of a profound breakdown. The relentless rage and overwhelming despair became his constant companions, shattering the semblance of normalcy in his life. Amidst the turmoil, a glimmer of hope emerged in an unexpected encounter with faith. A chance encounter with an evangelist sparked a journey toward healing and purpose, leading Derrick and his family on a path of restoration and spiritual awakening.

As the book unveils the raw vulnerability of a shattered man, it also celebrates the resilience and strength that emerged from the ashes. Through setbacks, prayers, and unexpected encounters, Derrick found solace and strength in the embrace of a supportive community and the unshakeable faith that guided him through the darkest of storms.

Vice Cop to Vicar is a poignant testimony of the human spirit's resilience, the transformative power of faith, and the unwavering hope that emerges from the depths of despair. It is a story of redemption, courage, and the unwavering belief that even in the face of unspeakable darkness, light can eventually pierce through.

Derrick Wilks was born in a small market town in Yorkshire, England. He was studying industrial chemistry until a chance encounter with a policeman resulted in him changing careers and joining the police. He spent the next 22 years in a variety of frontline posts culminating in the CID. He left the police on ill-health grounds. Derrick is married to Ann and they have 2 children and seven grandchildren who love to hear his stories. In 2008 both he and Ann were ordained as Pentecostal Ministers and served in churches in the Essex area of England until they retired.
