The Book of Psalms is a unique collection of personal and communal responses to God who is loved and referred to especially in times of trouble, by both Jews and Christians; for they demonstrate that God who is holy is also God who is merciful; God who is Judge also brings comfort. This is the God whom we worship. This is the God to whom we turn for forgiveness and vision. In The Songs of Ascent can be found encouragement, explanation, confidence and loving kindness down through the ages. And for Christians, a wonderful forthtelling of the coming Messiah who for them is Jesus.
