The idea of telling the whole Bible in a manner that allows children to both enjoy and learn its contents was appealing to Hurlbut, who noted the Bible’s enduring popularity. As a Methodist minister, Hurlbut had much experience with scripture, and felt that he could interpret the Biblical passages in a new way, that the younger generation can find introduction to the Bible in a manner that is spiritually sound and designed to hold their attention.
