Product Description

EVANGELIZATION IN CAMEROON: Sight and Blindness in God's Revelation in Jesus Christ The present work is an analysis of a specific theme in the Gospel of St. John, sight and blindness. The Gospel of John portrays by signs, which we call miracles, that Jesus is the Son of God. The work first briefly looks at the message in or behind the Gospel before examining the background to sight and blindness. The Gospel of John is a revelation of Jesus by the evangelist and the present work also incorporates evangelization in Cameroon as part of the ongoing study. Jesus Christ stated his mission as sight for those who are blind and blindness for those who claim to see (John 9:39) self. Stating the obvious, one would say that sight is seeing and blindness is the absence of sight. This theme also exemplifies light and darkness. To have sight is to be in the light and to be blind is to be in darkness. Jesus is shown as the light of the world that was made through him. Light therefore becomes a major theme in the life and work of Jesus. Healing and the actions that surround it will point to Jesus as the Messiah, the light that triumphed over darkness. For instance, from others, Bartimaeus who in Mark 10:46-52 was a blind beggar had asked for money, but answered when Jesus asked him what he wanted: "Master, I want to see" (Mk 10:51), a sign that he was desperate for health, and his faith gave him back his sight. He became a disciple of Jesus after the healing and went after Jesus. This should be a lesson to Africans and to all who have received the gift of light and faith.
