In our Western culture, to be the head of something means to be the one in charge...the boss; but not to a Greek living two thousand years ago. To them, to be the head of something meant to be the source of something. Thanks to this cultural misunderstanding, the original meaning and teaching of the scriptures when it comes to the nature of Christian marriage and the role of women in church leadership, has reflected the deep-rooted, sin-based, centuries old biases of traditionally male-dominated society, rather than the love, life, and truth-based freedom in Christ that the Father intended His people to enjoy from the beginning, and that Jesus restored through His death and resurrection.
