What is Black Friday. Where did it come from and why don't we join in?
The Black Friday concept originated in America and is celebrated the day after Thanksgiving. For many, this tends to be the unofficial start to the Christmas shopping season.
Whilst thanksgiving is not widely celebrated in the UK (although, any excuse for a turkey dinner is ok with us) more and more people are looking for Black Friday deals each year.
To some people "Black Friday" sounds vaguely spiritual and a bit ominous but it actually refers to businesses’ profits moving, for the first time, from being ‘in the red’ to ‘in the black’. Black Friday fortnight has become hugely important for many businesses as it can often make the difference between a profit for the year and a loss.
Even though Black Friday is not a spiritual occasion, many Christians (including us) are concerned by the high-pressure, sometimes misleading sales tactics used by some companies in order to make the most of this final quarter of the year.
It's a very important time of year for us, as a business, too but we don’t want our customers to feel pressured to buy things they can’t afford.
So, we don't take part in Black Friday and we don't run any new, time-limited offers during this period. We simply continue to run the brilliant deals we have all year round, with hundreds of products discounted by 10% or more.
We do understand that a lot of our customers wait for good deals, at this time of year, so that they can afford to buy the gifts and resources they need for their families and churches. So, we collect all our brilliant, ongoing deals into a single location - Deal Discovery Days - on our site so you can find them as easily as possible.
There are no gimmicks, no tricks, no pressure. Just good, old-fashioned customer service from people who want to guide you to the resources you need, as easily as possible.
And don’t worry about missing out while you wait for your November pay cheque. These are our year round offers so they won’t suddenly disappear (unless we run out of stock). All we recommend is that you order before 18th December for free UK delivery in time for Christmas.
See all our deals here: Deal Discovery Days.
