May 9th saw the start of a new era in Christian retailing in Kendal when Market Place Books held its official opening the shop’s new location across the market place from its original, but somewhat cramped, location which had been its home since 1977.
The shop was full to overflowing with customers, supporters and local ‘dignitaries’ at the opening ceremony.Bob Spratt, one of the founding trustees, cut the ribbon watched by Market Place Books manager Gill Chaldecott, local MPTim Farron, Alison Newcombe, wife of the Bishop of Carlisle and Jonathon Brook, chair of trustees.
