Is 67 in the Bible?

Aaron Lewendon - Eden Bibles & Bible Study Specialist

If you have spent any time scrolling through TikTok or Instagram comments recently (or even just talked with someone who's under 10 years old), you might have noticed a recurring number popping up with zero context: 67.

It's a joke phrase, a meme. It doesn't really mean anything, and that in itself is the joke. It is easily repeatable, annoying and confusing to anyone who is not a part of the joke.

It also means questions like 'Is 67 in the Bible?' start to appear.

To answer the question, no.

But also, yes...kind of.

Where is 67 in the Bible?

You can find it:

  • In any book with at least 6 chapters and 7 verses (e.g. Genesis 6:7)
  • Psalms 67
  • Nehemiah 7:72 - "The total given by the rest of the people was 20,000 darics of gold, 2,000 minas[a] of silver and 67 garments for priests." (NIV Translation)

But that's just the number 67.

For my money, the most relevant verse for the 67 trend is 1 Corinthians 13:11

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Every generation of children has its own collection of jokes, slang, and memetic phrases. But there always comes a time when most of these become stale and worn out. When those childish things are put away.

So, no, 67 isn't in the Bible. But that doesn't mean we don't learn anything from asking whether it is.
