A new political party which claims to represent moderate Christians, plans to launch in Scotland later this year.
And the leader of the Scottish Centre Democrats, has made it clear that his party will not be supporting the independence agenda.
Michael Elmer, leader of the Centre Democrats in England and Wales, has been in Scotland to meet with Scottish Christians, and discuss launching the Scottish Centre Democrats.
He said: “There needs to be a party for those who embrace Christian values and are willing to claim the centre ground: In economic terms those who reject both planned economies and naked capitalism.
“I think Scottish voters will be interested in a party that is pro-life in the broadest sense—against poverty and the death penalty as well as abortion—and against independence.”
Mr Elmer was formerly the foreign affairs spokesman for the Christian People’s Alliance Party, but split from the party three years ago.
As the debate over independence for Scotland rages on, a new poll today shows that only one in ten Welsh people support the idea of Wales going it alone if Scotland make the move.
