Christian Books, Dunstable are delighted to have been selected as one of 68 independent bookshops to receive monies from the Booksellers Association James Patterson fund.
Christian Books received £3,500 from the New York Times bestselling author as part of his partnership with the BA in encouraging independent bookshops to inspire reading amongst the next generation. Any independent bookshop with a dedicated children’s book section was eligible for a grant of between £250 and £5,000.
Christian Books plan to install a new Children’s section front and centre of the bookshop; the grant money will be used to purchase new bookshelves, children’s book table and new window seating. The grant comes at an exciting time for the bookshop as they plan to refurbish the whole bookshop this summer and revitalise the internal decor.
Patterson is committed to bringing attention to the important contributions of independent bookshops, and he is especially concerned with inspiring children to become lifelong readers.
