This translation is excellent - much easier to understand than many others, yet faithful to the original Greek and Hebrew. I believe it's the best translation for our current age (though scholars and Bible students should also have a more"literal" translation to hand). I'm currently encouraging my church to adopt it for use in all services and as "pew Bible". This is one of the few "Anglicised" editions available, with British English (as opposed to American) spelling and turns of phrase - all published by SPCK. The Children's edition is identical to the adults', except for the 16 pictures. So has exactly the same page numbers and layout - which will help everyone to read along together. Unfortunately I find the pictures unimpressive, a bit difficult to interpret and sometimes plain wrong! (Jonah is pictured in a canoe as the great fish arrives!!). Hence four stars, rather than five.
