Full Product Description

  • Want a book that teaches kids that they are special?
  • The bright picture book by Max Lucado is filled with warmth and wisdom
  • Meaningful and lasting, this book holds close a message that encourages

Max Lucado's You Are Special is a beautifully told and illustrated story for younger children.

Set in a town of wooden dolls, called Wemmicks, the Wemmicks spend their time giving each other stickers all day - stars for being good and dots for doing bad things. Punchinello has so many dots you can hardly see him.

One day, Punchinello meets another wooden doll who has no stars or dots. She advises him to go and see Eli, the woodcarver who made all the wooden people and find out why the stickers don't stick to her.

The wooden characters come to understand that they are so very special and don't need the approving or disapproving stickers of those around them. They also realize they are loved and wanted because Eli, who made them, loves Punchinello as well as all of the other Wimmecks for who they are.

Lucado wrote the story to help children believe in themselves and that it doesn't matter what others think. Children come to realise they are loved and wanted because their maker loves them as much as he loves all his other children.

It's a wonderful story that will remind children and adults alike that they are loved and unique - a great tool for teaching your kids to feel good about themselves. Every household and every business which deals with children should own this book. Adults and children will love this book and will find it excellent for mission evangelism.

You are Special by Max Lucado was published by Lion Hudson in February 2005 and is our 78th best seller. The ISBN for You are Special is 9781859855454.

Product Q&A

Got a question? No problem! Just click here to ask us about You are Special.

Q:

What is the difference between this one priced £3.99 and the other priced £6 something?

Also what does V1 missing mean?

A:The difference in the two board book edition prices of You are Special is due to the two books being published by different publishers one here in the UK and one from the USA. As sometimes one edition can be unavailable or under reprint we keep both editions available - the UK one is at the lower price as we don't have to ship it from the USA. Other editions of You are Special at different prices are the same story but in different formats - one a hardback gift book in small format and one a hardback gift book in a large format. I haven't been able to find V1 missing in the description - this may have been an error already corrected.
Q:

Is this version of 'You are Special' the large, coloured illustrations edition?

A:

This version of 'You Are Special' is the Board Book edition, which means it is small with cardboard pages suitable for toddlers.

You do sell a much larger version, which is illustrated in colour, with paper pages. Follow this link to view the book: http://www.eden.co.uk/shop/you_are_special_93526.html

Publisher's Description

You Are Special is a heart-warming children's tale from best-selling author Max Lucado.

Every day the small wooden people called Wemmicks do the same thing: stick either gold stars or grey dots on one another. The most talented and pretty Wemmicks always get the stars, and those who can do little or who have chipped paint, receive ugly grey dots, just like Punchinello.

But Eli the woodcarver helps Punchinello understand just how special he is, no matter what all the other Wemmicks may think.

In You Are Special, Max Lucado conveys a vital message for children everywhere: that they are special in God's eyes.
