Recorded live the inaugural ‘The Gathering’ conference in Birmingham, Stir A Passion places Worship Central back on the stage.
Founded back in 2006, Worship central describe themselves as ‘a movement of worshippers who want to see the worship of Jesus Christ made central throughout our communities local churches and the world.’ For the group, worship is about bringing Christ to people, and people to Christ.
After the studio-set album Marcy Road, the group head back to live worship - and do they exceed when live! Stir a Passion is a song all about being moved by moments of God’s presence:
‘Stir a passion in my heart, Lord
Let it overflow’
The opening lines of this title track aren’t even fully sung by worship leader Josh Gauton. Instead, he checks his worship leader ego and lets the worship be led by the hundreds of people in the audience. Championing the voice of God’s people, the album as a whole exists to make a welcoming space for God’s presence. Waiting for God to break in.
For anyone wanting modern worship with fewer big personalities and more God-moments, Stir a Passion is a perfect place to begin. It’s big, but not showy. Led by Tim Hughes, Josh Gauton, Anna Hellebronth and Luke Hellebronth, Stir a Passion is the most notable release by the group since Spirit Break Out. It offers songs that are tailored to Church worship, to encourage people to engage with God’s presence, to be stirred up to overflow.
