A Passionate BalanceIan Gibson, via The Good Book Stall
This book, part of the Traditions in Christian Spirituality series, reminds us that sometimes the Anglican tradition is more closely associated with big services in cathedrals or national occasions attended by monarchs. We have tended to put to one side the deep tradition of spiritual content in Anglican worship and reading. As Anglicans we are all pretty good at party politics and division, especially these past few months and the author does provide sound evidence of our commonality in prayer and spiritual writings. He writes that this spirituality and theology are not only resilient and have lasted centuries but are strong enough to survive the present malaise to be an effective expression of Christian faith. With a widespread hunger in the western world for some form of spiritual life and study, this book could be a great starting point for us all.
