The book deals with a range of topics commonly encountered by pastor's wives. In the form of 17 informal letters, seasoned pastor's wives provide counsel on topics for women entering the field of ministry as the wife of a newly ordained pastor.

They range in diversity, from cultivating personal piety to providing practical guidelines in situations uniquely found in the circumstance of ministry. These women are predominantly the wives of well known preachers from the reformed tradition. Their wealth of experience and obvious love for Christ has provided wisdom that only a well trodden path of ministry could produce. Each letter is preceded by a preface penned by the woman's husband.
