This book is for those who want to reflect more deeply on the significance of God's coming in Christ. It provides readings, reflections, prayers and points to ponder arranged around five themes, one for each week of Advent and another for the week including Christmas. These themes, in turn, revolve around three axes: what God has done, what he is doing, and what he has yet to do. We consider the hope of Advent, asking whether our expectations need to be stretched, opened to new horizons. We ask in what way we need to prepare ourselves to welcome Christ into our lives, both now and on his final return in glory. We reflect on why Advent gives us grounds to trust in God despite everything that life may throw at us. We look at the response people made to Christ at the time of his birth and the response we are called to make in turn. Finally, we explore in what ways the coming of Christ is good news for today.
Daily Advent Reflections provides a short but meaningful act of devotion throughout the season of Advent and the first week of Christmas to challenge, encourage, nurture and inspire. 'My hope,' writes Nick Fawcett, 'is that something in these pages may open the window on this special time, affording a clearer glimpse of God's love in Christ, the one at its heart.'
